Thrifted Thursday: The Vintage Coach Bag

Happy Thrifted Thursday! Today I would like to introduce to you the coach bag I thrifted this past summer at the Funky Trunk. Isn't it lovely?

I remember the day clearly, feeling sad at first that I was about to depart the store empty handed. But, fear not. As I turned to the woman at the counter to give my "thanks, but no thanks" statement and exit, I spotted it. Sitting behind the counter, on top of a pile of fresh, new donations, was a perfectly off-white, perfectly sized, perfectly vintage Coach bag. I stopped dead into tracks and asked quickly, heart pounding in my chest, if the bag was for sale. The woman responded that she was just about to put it out for $20. STOP I shouted, I mean asked. Ill take it. I payed, left and then did a little dance to myself.

Now I'm the proud owner of a $20, vintage, cross-body, Coach bag. Boom.

Winter Hiking: Baker's Tank Trail

Remember how I made a vow to get myself outside every day? Welllll, it honestly hasn't happened. Sometimes I'm too busy or tired or (insert some lame reason). However, like I said last time, I always feel better when I'm breathing that fresh mountain air; so today, I would like to share with you another fantastical winter hike the pup and I did.

The day was (last) Sunday, the weather was sunny, the temperature was balmy (35 degrees) and the booty was burning. Zig and I did the Baker's Tank trail in Breck and it may be a new favorite winter hike/summer trail run. Starting at the trailhead, we hiked steadily uphill for the first three miles. Once we got to our destination, Baker's Tank, you loop back to the trailhead on Boreas Pass Road (which in the fall is the most gorgeous place on earth). Although most peeps (everyone) on the trail were either snowshoeing or cross-country skiing, there was no need. The trail was completely packed down and easy to walk on. We finished the 5.5 miler in under two hours and both got the Vitamin D we needed to put a refreshing smile on our face. Baker's Tank Trail. Do it.

Winter Hiking: Barney Ford Trail

Living in a ski town, I am spoiled by my surroundings. If the weather conditions aren't exactly to my liking, I often turn my nose at the outdoors. No snow? No ski for me. No sun? Nothing sounds fun. However, even on the coldest days, in the crappiest conditions, I ALWAYS feel better when I'm being active. Thus, I've made a vow to do something outside every day for the rest of the winter. Whether I ski, hike or just walk the dog to the park, I will get myself outside.

This brings me to the glorious hike the bf and I went on last week. We laced up our snow boots and hiked on one of the packed trails behind Wes's house; no snowshoes or skins required. The weather was gorgeous, the views spectacular and oh how much fun the dog had. We hiked from Barney Ford trail to Sally Barber trail and into French Gulch and I highly recommend it (especially if you don't have the gear to cross-country ski or skin). It took us about an hour-and-a-half, roundtrip and was worth every second.
