Holiday Aftermath

Christmas is over. NYE is over. The presents are opened, the champagne is drunk, I have nothing to shop for anymore and truthfully, I am feeling a little depressed and empty.

Every year, it feels like the entire month of December is spent preparing for the holidays. Every extra second is used to finish the shopping, wrap the presents or prepare the menu. It's stressful and tiring, but exciting at the same time. Now though, it's over, and I don't know what to do with my spare time.

I wish I could make the holidays last longer, like when I was school-aged and had weeks off for winter break. Weeks to eat Christmas turkey leftovers. Weeks to spend time with my family. Weeks to relax and be merry.

Do you feel the same? The emptiness of the holiday aftermath if you will? Has American commercialism made me feel this way or do I really just love the holidays that much? Tell me your thoughts! I need to know! At least we can look forward to Groundhog's Day?

Happy Friday Mountain and Mode-sters. Life has been exhausting lately and I am looking forward to a weekend of n-o-t-h-i-n-g! I plan on not getting out of bed and movie marathoning all weekend long. Top 10 Selfies of 2012

I have a confession to make. I take selfies. I take them a lot, like, every day. I mostly take them in my car at stoplights just to make sure I look good. Though I also take them while I'm doing excellent activities by myself, like hiking or running. Sometimes I take a smiling selfie. Sometimes I take a blank-faced selfie. Mostly though, I try to take sexy, pouty, smiling-with-your-eyes, model selfies.

I know. It's embarrassing. But I have to tell you the truth because we are friends and friends don't lie. You might think the most embarrassing part of taking selfies is getting caught taking a selfie, like myself at stoplights. Well, that part can be embarrassing, but the most embarrassing part is when you let a friend browse your phone picts and she find them. She is scrolling to the left, checking out all your awesome, past picts and arrives and 10 photos of you doing your dumb, smiling-with-no-teeth face. #Embarrassing.

Why am I bringing this up you ask? Because as I was browsing through my picts today, trying to come up with awesome blog inspiration, I kepy getting sidetracked by all my selfies, and all those selfies made me wonder if you take selfies too. Do you? I bet so. I hope so....

I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas and week. I'll be savoring the last of the holidays this weekend with wonderful friends and family. Lots of prepping to do for the NYE party the roomie and I are throwing. I'll be cleaning, baking, cooking and DIY'ing  all weeking. Thrifted Thursdays: The Ski Boots

This thrifted Thursday is an oldie, but a goodie, a reaaal goodie.

Last Winter the Wesley and I were browsing Recycled Sports in Frisco, looking for possible treasures, when we struck gold. In a sea of dirty and old ski boots, mine were just sitting there, perfect, waiting for us to walk in the door and take them away.

They were brand new, 2010 Dalbello Krypton boots that retailed then for $700 and now for $400! Plus they came with Intuition Liners, Hotronic FootWarmers and Booster straps. Wes tells me that with all the bells and whistles these boots came with, they were easily worth $1000. We did not pay that ridiculous amount though. We are better shoppers than that. We Wesley bought them for only $90! Brown chicken brown cow.

So far I have only used them once this winter (mama still needs skis and bindings), but they were glorious; so warm and comfortable (if there is such a thing in ski boots). I love them and they love me too. Excellent thrift find Wesley, excellent thrift find.
